Problem Note 41542: SAS Object Spawner may crash when shutting down a SAS Pooled Workspace Server.
The SAS Object Spawner may intermittently crash when shutting down a SAS Pooled Workspace due to the inactivity timeout being reached. The following excerpt is from a SAS Object Spawner log where the problem occurred:
2010-10-06T10:20:35,884 INFO [00000027] SYSTEM@SHARKBAIT - Client connection 26
for user sassrv@SHARKBAIT closed.
2010-10-06T10:20:35,884 DEBUG [00000027] SYSTEM@SHARKBAIT -
2010-10-06T10:20:35,884 DEBUG [00000027] SYSTEM@SHARKBAIT - Unable to shutdown

2010-10-06T10:20:35,884 DEBUG [00000027] SYSTEM@SHARKBAIT - Killing server
SASApp - Pooled Workspace Server in process 5580.
The second line of the log which is empty indicates the SAS Object Spawner crashed due to this issue.
Setting the inactivity timeout value for the SAS Pooled Workspace server to 0 will prevent the crash from occurring. Using SAS® Management Console, open the properties of the SAS Pooled Workspace Server definition and go to the Advanced Options which is located under the Options tab. Change the value for Inactive process shutdown timeout (sec): to 0.
